The Insight came out at the very wrong time, as someone had said. Moreover, it's a small 2-seater, which makes it very impractical as well. Honda publicly said it lost money with every Insight sold but it was doing it to popularize the technology and its future.

Today, the Insight would be a success, if it had 4 seats.

In 2002, you could buy a brand new Honda Insight for $19,080 MSRP and get a $3,970 US federal tax credit for doing so.
That's crazy cheap considering they were hand assembled (I believe) side by side with the s2000 and NSX in Japan! If I only knew......I would definitely buy one. Just not in that damn lime green color

Simple, because the hybrid wasn't in vogue yet, now it is.

I liked the Insight I drove from Honda while the S2k was getting its motor replaced back in 02 (warranty-work). Got 75mpg easily.

Find me a Civic CRX HF!!! It will get as good mpg or better than any current hybrid and you won't have to worry about batteries.
I dunno about that. The Insight is probably still the most fuel efficient mass-produced vehicle in the US period (and I think it still has the record of having the lowest drag coefficient). The CRX HF comes pretty close with 55 mpg if I'm not mistaken.

On a side note, I knew this girl with a MT Insight. On a trip to LA from SF she averaged 120 mpg.

Civic Vx is better than a CRX HF.

For what that is worth in your e-arguments.

I've said it a million times, Honda REALLY needs to bring these things back. Sure they lost money on them 8 years ago, but they could definitely make money off them now.
