Find me a Civic CRX HF!!! It will get as good mpg or better than any current hybrid and you won't have to worry about batteries.

Try getting your hands on a Rav4EV.

I remembered they were going for $36k new after all the rebates. And ebay motors sold some for around $50k in 2006. I hear they are now reselling at close to $60k now (with 100k miles already).

If I only knew.... this crapy EV cute SUV (rather not so cute) has better returns than a Ferrari.

The first gen Civic Hybrid also have 5spd as well.

From what I understand, Honda killed it and only offer CVT tranny now. Reason I hear is that the battery needs replacement more often with the 5spd. For some reason, the design allowed the battery to drain much lower than with the CVT.

I just read that the battery costs about $5k to replace after 100k miles. Thats a ridiculous 100k mile maintenance.

However, there seems to be some people that somehow fit prius and civic hybrid battery packs in for around $700.
Amazing considering a fooking Dell Laptop battery runs you $200+ most the time.

-> When the Insight was new, I liked it a lot just because its one of the Hybrids that has a M/T. Plus its size was 'just' right for the 6'3 guy like me.

-> But there were drawbacks. 1st was I always haul a lot of stuff with me (that is also why I don't own an S), and that battery pack (those ARE expensive).

-> Unless if I do this:
