as long as the mods u put on make ur car go faster means u are not wasting ur money.

Yeah, but your point still stands. A slow, good handling car is not a bad idea for a race car. Now, obviosly a fit will be more expensive then say an older CRX and probably not any faster, though the gas mileage stuff is interesting, but to each his own. No one is getting hurt racing a slow car.
