Honda Fit
#41
I am waiting for my Fit Sport to come in. Build date is this Wednesday and it should be here in about a month. I wanted a manual (very few % are made in manual) and wanted a specific color. I wasnt going to pay over MSRP and looked in Cali, NV, UT, and AZ. Nowhere was the color combo in manual to be found. It will end up being about 1 1/2 month wait, but I have the S to drive, so no big deal.
What sold me was the functionality (cargo room) of it and the gas mileage. Also, it looks nice lowered on some rims.

i think ill sell the S for a Fit
I'd hate my commute in that thing. Plus there is no inventory and dealers are adding $2000 markups, which brings Fit into Civic price territory --around $18,000.
For that money I'd rather get a Civic than a Fit.

so i decided to build a 2008 Fit on the honda website and realized that low and behold:
They don't have the color WHITE
how can honda discontinue such a primary color on a car? Not to mention the best looking fit comes in white -___-

I don't think people think about the ability to avoid accidents with such things as a lower center of gravity, better handling, better braking, etc. They just think about being able to survive a crash by being in a bigger box as the tumble around.
And don't forget, it is way easier to stop a lighter vehicle, and when it comes to accident avoidence, being able to stop quickly is often the difference between a bad crash and not.

I'm a huge fan of the Fit. The thing that blows me away is the design of the rear seats. I'm totally impressed how they fold down into the foot well and reward you with a huge perfectly flat floor. It's like bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. Fantastic design.
For the people who think the Fit is unrefined and don't like the road noise I have to say, fine, go buy a heavier more insulated car. I'm the kind of person that is an outrage at the fact that every f'ing car seems to be getting heavier and heavier, ENOUGH ALREADY. The stupid Fortwo Smart car has a 1.0 3-cylinder and gets a claimed 37 mpg. WTF? That's the best they can do? The little Honda CRX HF back in 1989 had a 1.3 I4, and it was pulling down 50+ mpg. Weight is the enemy, I'm more than happy to take a bit of road noise to keep the weight down.

The car revs pretty high at highway speeds and that's not really a good trait for a daily driver/commuting car.
