The Civic isn't as practical and isn't anywhere near as fun to drive. On the other hand, it's a hell of a lot more comfortable/refined, and would be easier to live with. The Civic isn't a rocket ship but it's not so anemic that it trips over itself like the Fit does. It really would depend on where I lived and what I was using it for.

In a flat cit environment the Fit would be okay, but take it someplace like Seattle or San Francisco and I'd hate it. Likewise if I was just using the car to get on the freeway and commute to work the Civic is much nicer.

Si Sedan has foldable rear seats and the mileage is pretty good. I wouldn't want an anemic power plant to have to drive in around here.

I completely disagree.

I have owned Civics and before I bought my fit I test drove similar priced Civics and they did not hold a candle to the fit in any way. Heck, to get a similarly equiped civic you had to pay thousands more. I found the civic in that price range as bland to drive as possible while the fit as shown by C&D to be the top rated "fun" cars made under $20K was an absolute blast. In fact it was so bad that I took the civic off my radar (Civic LX). It was more between a Fit and a Mazda 3 hatch at the end.

How?

How is the Fit more fun to drive than the Civic?

Can you explain in more detail?

Is it the steering response, steering feel, acceleration, braking, shifting, cornering?

I just don't get why someone would buy a Fit over a Civic. People say it's ''more fun''; how so?

9%? F that. Either your credit is terrible or they're just being greedy. You can do better. Remember that the dealer gets a cut of that.

I just walked into my personal bank and got 7.3% instantly. I bet I could get below 7% if I shopped.

Do a credit union and you can get 5% or under.

All 6 that you mentioned with the exception of acceleration above 40 mph.

The only thing I can suggest to you is to do what I did (besides the fact that I have owned about 7-8 Civic based models).

Take Fit and a Civic LX (even an EX) for a test drive. Take them to a parking lot and just pretend you are on a tight Auto-X course. Beat the crap out of them with hard corners.

I'm willing to bet you crap-can the Civic pretty quick

again, remember that the Fit IS considered the sportiest car made under $20K

Keep in mind that the dealer may try and match your Credit Union rate. We had 4.3% approved from our local credit union and the dealer came back with a 4.25%. In the end, we just paid in cash. Also note that the dealer makes more money from you if you finance the car using their sources (they get a cut from the lender). So cash isn't necessarily king (for them).

I bought my Fit 1 year ago and got 2.9% from my credit union. But I just paid off the Fit last month. I just got 4.59% on the S2000 that I picked up 4 days ago.

You got hosed. No offense. With that much of a downpayment you should gotten better.

I got 5.9% from AHFC back in October with only $1000 down and $1500 in negative equity from my trade rolled in.
