I would be happier if instead of beginning, they announced they finished work. This is going to be like the REALLY long build up to the new Camaro, LFA and the soon to be released Toybaru.

Already covered in another thread. This is not confirmation (not even remotely close).

Even with 400HP, you'd still get all of the domestic rednecks harping about their buddy's Mustang 5.0 puts out more power.
yee-dogee!!! Did I mention that my buddies Mustang 5.0 puts out more power?

I'd be happy if Honda made a Boxster/Cayman/Z4 fighter, the last thing I'd buy is a 6 digit supercar like a Ferrari.

I don't see why they don't just make that HSA thing with the V10 they were planning on making and canceled. Anyways lets hope this is a step back in the right direction. Finally lets hope that we see the same car as the rest of the world and not some crappier version.

I mean that looks pretty damn amazing to me.

it's probably going to suck and be too eco-friendly. and if they ever remake the s2000 it'll also probably suck.

This is like the boy who cried wolf - after a while, people just don't believe you. Another car show, another sports car announcement from Honda. We've already seen what, a half dozen NSX replacements over the years? At this point, its hard to believe.

Yeah, that artist rendering that the production version probably wouldn't have looked like is pretty sweet, Just kidding.

Dear Honda,

Enclosed please find the perfect recipe for making us all hate you less.

Sincerely,
Everyone with balls.

Recipe:

Aluminum unibody chassis
SMALL car (see Ironman thread for details)
Mid engined 4.0 V6 making 400 hp
Six Speed transmission
Sporty seats
Good tires
more of a long NSX styled car look than a squatty Cayman type style
Weight in the 2900 to 3000 lb range
Quasi futuristic styling so that people can tell it's not an Accord
Sub $100K price tag
No hybrid anything

It's not that goddamn hard. Something that slots in performance wise above a Cayman and perhaps above a base 911. Like an Evora that doesn't suck as bad.

So this is the race version right? So they already have this car built they just need to make it look like a street car like the picture I posted. I still think it looks great and would be perfect.

Hahaha, funny post.

I don't get it either. Maybe I'm greatly over simplifying it, but it seems like Honda of all companies could easily put together a car with the features from your list. Maybe they're concerned their brand equity isn't strong enough and a new Honda NSX that's not better/faster/etc., won't sell just on name alone, and doing something with exotic performance will require an exotic price tag.

I kind of like the idea though, of a 3000#/400HP car in the $50K-75K range, exotic looks, low[er] production, Honda build/quality, maybe with a few ultra high tech touches with electronics, that's highly competitive (if not better) vs. it's price peers.

A $50K NSX that's out performed by Cayman/Corvette or a $150K car with incredible performance are both uninteresting to me.
