complaining about the s2000's mpg is like complaining that odysseys don't come as a convertible.

No, it's not. It's perfectly reasonable to want a fun, sporty, quick car, but still not want to pay out the ass for gas.

The S is an LEV vehicle, and it gets respectable gas mileage...the corvette gets better gas mileage mainly because of that ridiculou skip shift "feature"
why is something that saves gas without a noticeable effect on performance called rediculous

The reason Toyota has better perceived "green record" can be summed up in one word: Prius. This car has been far far more popular than the Insight. As a result, Toyota benefited. Now they have made strides in their lux brand Lexus before Honda has with Acura.

Most consumers don't care to go through the MPG and emissions specs of each vehicle. Therefore a very popular seller like the Prius can easily create an image for the parent, correct or not.

agreed, the prius has done wonders for Toytoa. But anybody in the know knows that Honda is the greenest car company out there. they've won numerous awards for being environmentally friendly.

As far as mpg, I have had over 30 mpg on a couple hwy trips.

One from Columbus, OH to Holland, MI I got 340 miles and filled with 11 gallons.
I was driving 70-75 mph with the top down.

Yes, but the vast majority of car buyers are not in the know.
