Help with steering noise
Hey guys, This is kind of a any car problem because it is from my roommates 99 altima.
When ever the car is going slow or standing still and the wheel is turned either way it makes a lound hum / purring noise really loud. What could this be?
This car has no mods or anything, just a reg altima. Thanks in advance!

my friend had a ford tauras that had the same problem, lots of whining noises, and he had a small leak around the pulley area.... if the fluid level is good, maybe you just need a new unit... maybe there's a bearing that's shot.??

Not S2000 related, moving to car talk.
The S2000 has electric power steering, where as most cars have hydraulically assisted power steering. Other than having a steering wheel and being attached to the front wheels, the 2 systems have very little in common.

Sounds like a problem I used to have. Check the steering fluid levels. I had a leak in my power steering fluid and when it got empty, anytime I turned it made a squeeky noise. Fill it up and it goes away. Of course, because I had a leak, I had to fill it up every week. See if that works.
