I got my 2005 VTX1300 two months ago and I just love it. My riding background is mostly racebikes and I still own a 600rr as well. VTX has perfect power for a CRUISER. It handles the best out of most of the bikes in under 10k range(I got mine for 9500OTD) You can really feel the Honda quality and reliability. I'm thinking about giving this one to my Dad and getting another one for myself. I think it's a perfect choice.

I bought my VTXR-1800, the first year they came out. I was really looking for a Harley, having already had my first cruiser which was a 650 Yamaha VStar. Once I seen the VTX at the bike show I knew that was the Bad Boy I wanted . I've had over 30 bikes from the first one being a 1965 Honda Superhawk to my fastest being a ZX7, but getting a little older and hanging with a different crowd I wanted a big cruiser, and this one was the one that caught my eye and still has my heart into it. I ride with different type of riders (cruisers, sport touring). Everywhere I go the guys give my ride 2 thumbs up and they all want to try it. I've also added Corbin accesories that make this ride look sweet. Off the line she's a torque monster, but who can argue with cylinders the size of coffee cans. She pulls well all the way to 240 km/hr... Had her there a few times! Not even scary! If the Old boy is partial to a Harley, that has to be respected; but if he isn't go team VTX!! I have over 26k's on the bike with nothing to report on the maintenance side. Except for oil changes and valve adjustement @ 20k's. This bike is alot of power, looks and dependability for the $$.

Of course, there's always the new HD V-rod Streetrod... the first HD in a long time that has captured my interest.
It "fixes" the things that -- IMHO -- they got wrong on the original VRSC given the consumer segment they were targeting... older sportbike riders like myself. The aesthetics are still a bit off but the ergonomics and geometry is on-target.
Note: Consider doesn't mean buy, kinda like the new BMW K1200GT which I've also "considered". However, given the $18k price tags on both, I'll stick with my XX for the foreseeable future.

I really dig the Street Rod, too, and agree that they pretty much fixed all the V Rod's major shortcomings. Still, I'm not made of money, so the Road Warrior still seems like a very attractive alternative...hypothetically speaking, since I'm not yet ready for a cruiser!
