My boss has an issue with her CRV. After having noticed one of the headlights burnt out she replaced it only to have the other one burn out right after. She replace the second one but now has one of the reverse lights burnt out. She's thinking of getting an extra reverse light just b/c she scared that this is not the end of the line.

Could this be a symptom of something larger or just a coincidence?

Coincidence, probably. How old is the car?

My Civic headlights did the same thing, burned out within a week of each other.

It's an '01 with 98k.

If this is the first time it's likely a "fluke". Even though multiple bulb burn-outs have a high improbability quotient, it does happen. However, if they keep doing it, then something else is going. You may have a bad ground or a short (frayed wire insulation) somewhere.
Automotive bulbs are pretty simple devices and they churn them out in the millions. It's not unexpected to see large numbers of poor quality ones.
