Default Have you bought a car on EBAY?

Like the title states. Have any of you guys bought or specifically "stole" a car on ebay. I mean you got the car for way below value. I see alot of "CPO" cars listed on ebay. However, the cars rarely make reserve. Just wondering if anybody here has had a good experience getting an awesome deal thorough ebay.

I bought my S two years ago on E-Bay. The bank said it was worth 31k at the time and I got it for $29,600. It had the Comptech Supercharger, comptech header, HKS exhaust, and 18in wheels. I thought it was a good deal. 8months ago I bought a Kia Spectra for $4500 it booked out for $5500. Both as advertised and in good condition. I sold a Del Sol and a Harley on E-Bay also.

I bought my S on eBay. Got it for $1000 below invoice with 1500 miles on it, plus a whole slew of mods (see my sig, all of the mods on there were from the original owner except for the intake and exhaust).

Overall not a bad deal for a slightly used S. He had no reserve on it and $1000 below invoice as the starting price. Nobody else bid on the car except for me. I had a friend living near him go and test drive/checkout the car to make sure it was for real.

I bought mine new on Ebay--the seller was a dealer and I had a friend who lived close by who checked it out for me first.

I bought a Porsche 924 on Ebay for $1000 many years ago

But these days, there's a lot more competing bidders and many cars come with an extensive Pep Boys Inspection done on them so it's a totally different atmosphere now.

I mean invoice on a brand new 2004. I think invoice on the 2004s was $29500, I paid $28500. There's no invoice price on used cars. My car wasn't brand new, but it was practically brand new with only 1500 miles on it. With all the added mods I thought it was a pretty good deal.

I doubt I'd ever buy any car I wanted on eBay, sight unseen.

I had bad enough experiences just going to see private sale cars locally and been totally let down when I get there. Pictures don't say jack.

Perhaps it's different if it's a CPO dealer car, but other than that I wouldn't do it myself. But then again I've never done it, so whattdo I know?

i bought a 914 porsche on ebay from florida.... originally the guy was asking $15k for it.... i ended up paying $9k on ebay.... i put new tires on it, tuned it up, etc.... drove it off and on for a year and sold it for $9500..... but I also paid storage, taxes, delivery, insurance, etc.... so I didn't get any awesome deal.

I bought a 4 wheeler about 2 months ago.... got a much better deal than anything listed in my local paper.

This guy got a great deal... (link from above).

Bought a new 20' enclosed trailer on ebay for about $1k less than any local place was willing to sell the same exact trailer. Picked it up about 1 hour from my house at the factory......
