You make it sound as if she makes a lot of money b/c she happened into a good system. She had to go 4 years of college, 4 years of med school, and 4+ years of post graduate training. That's 12 years of school/training after HS graduation. Not to mention (usually) $100K-$200K in student loans.

Then she (probably) works 60-70 hrs a week while most people think 35-40 hrs is a full week.

If you think being a cardiologist is easy and/or anyone can do it you're wrong.

MS will just move to another country that will be more tax friendly to him.

btw, Quickag and rai, I know that the white house is discussing revamping the tax code. what do you think about the flat tax. I realize that it will probably NEVER happen in the U.S. But I think that it would be a more fair system.

eg: 20% flat tax- a guy making $200k pays $40k in taxes while a guy making $100k pays on $20k in taxes.

MS used to live in Monaco, then moved to Switerland when he had children, then moved to the German side of Switz so they could speak German.
I dont care if he pays 0 tax or 100%

I just thought it was REALLY funny that they are calling what they are doing the "The Schumi Incitive"
If they did it hear in the USA
and called it the Trump or Gates, or Leno, or Cruise Incitive, I would find it really funny also.
I agree though... If you can not pay tax..Good for you

Flat tax and national sales tax is nice in theory, but would never, ever fly in our lifetimes. Too many special interests would prevent this from happening.

I think the BAR drivers have extra "hidden" bank accounts that are full even when their primary bank accounts are empty.

Good points, esp about the student loans.

But as Rush says (and I agree) the US should encourage people to better themselves and make an extra buck. We should not punish someone for working hard or reward people for not working hard.

If you look at student loans as in investment by the government, you'll see it works out. Lets say they lend a student a $100K (which they get back with interest it's not like a gift) and the MD pay $100K more in tax every year than if they did not have the chance to go to med school.

and the gov. wonders why there are so many people struggling. 40% of your income in taxes is rediculous if you think about it. Most of the politicians dont even deserve the high pay rates they get anyhow. Now if they used that towards better education or just bettering the people in general it maybe worth it, but obviuosly none of that is working at the moment will all the homeless or poverty people around
