It's hardly worth the effort since its engine is already close to optimized from the factory. Turbo engines respond much more favorably to such hacks since increasing boost pays huge power dividends.

But you can get a Mugen ECU or AEM EMS if you want to spend a lot of $$$ for a few hp...

100% serious. Not saying it can impossible to hack, but when you control the hardware you have a LOT more options when it comes to security. Check this out, for example:

The main issue with the iPod is that you can easily download from Apple the unencrypted binary image of the software it runs, meaning it can be modified, and there's a known easy-to-use interface to load code on it (iTunes.) I have the feeling that with the GT-R, there's going to be encryption up the wazoo on ECU images, up/downloading images to the ECU will require customized hardware (no ODB2 or USB ports), RSA key fobs sent from the factory...
