Greatest supercar ever?
#32
IMNSHO the Miura was the first Supercar. And the epitome of supercars in the 80s was the Countach. In the 90s it was without doubt the F1 and in the naughties it's shaping up to be the Veyron.
Supercars are not only about performance. But they are also not about drivability. They are about prestige and flash and luxury. That is why the F40 is not up to it in my opinion.

While the prancing horse and the raging bull are very nice...not to mention the greatness from Zuffenhausen, right now, the best supercar is built in the USA! Yes, the king is without doubt the Saleen S7 (with the 1000 hp option). Completely outrageous...must be seen in person (I've seen all the rest listed above when I lived in Silicon Valley), but the Saleen has presence the others don't.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...but check this out:

At a cost of just under $10 million each in 1971 dollars I would have to say this piece of domestic iron (well not so much iron) it truly as exotic as they come.
Oddly enough GM had a major hand in this little (off) roadster.

Forgot about the saleen S7. Incredible perfomance and style. I might have to consider it a close second on my list. Though I would probably rather own an S7, the luxury and power of the Veyron set it apart in my mind.

I still like the F1, although the Zonda is also up there imo. As a kid I used to love the Countach. Anyone see the Top Gear episode where James drives one? He says he's totally crushed as the car is nowhere near as good as he'd always hoped it was. I still respect the impact it had at the time it was built though.
