bah my dad called me a ricer because I want to lower my car, and put clearcorners/jdm turn signals on

he feels anything done to the car to make it different is being a ricer.

I think things like that enhance the look of the car and make it something special, and different from other S2000's on the road (well some at least)

my sister's boyfriend however, IS a ricer.

he has:

1994 eclipse GS w/ auto tranny
ebay Fast&furious body kit, stuck on w/ 3m tape (poorly I might add)
double angled upward exhaust tips
non functional roof scoop applied w/ bondo (which is cracking)
black wing that is taller than the car itself
bright lime green neon paint (which is falling off becuause the prisoners he paid to do the job don't know how to paint)
stock rims spray painted white
black interior w/ blue neon "accent lights" and color matched interior peices (paint markered blue)
oh yeah, and walmart subs.
oh did I mention the Nos stickers on his windhield. he uses NOS fuel additive. thats it.

I'd say that that right there is the def. of rice

edited for grammar (i suck at teh typing)

jacalope.. your sisters b/f is a true ricer....

to me RICER IS JUST AS MUCH ATTITUDE AS ANYTHING!

ricer consits of not only the crappy car, but the mentallity that a just because u have an exhaust, intake, 300lbs. sound system, it gives you the right to be a dick on the road to others.

plus a ricer doesn't have a grip on reality.... a civic or focus or a, yes i have seen even a riced out reliant k, is gonna be in the same leauge as a viper, supra , vette, etc.....

its not all about speed either....... i could put twin turbos on a piece of turd that runs 8's but its still a turd.

Rice is the advertising of parts on a car, which aren't on it. Also incorrect badging.
Ex: Nos stickers on a car not equiped with NOS
Ex: GTR emblem on a Mustang GT

Im not a fan of Altezza lights but I don't understand how they are rice. Some people are interested more in the looks than the performance of the car. In no way is that rice, unless they claim its fast and what not, Ricer Attitude.

I can almost admire that as camp. Kind of like the Pacer Limo in Wayne's World.

For me rice is half finished cars. Unpainted body kits that look like they were pop-riveted on. Alloy wheels on the rear with stamped steel on the front. Steel wheels painted silver to look like alloys.

But none of this is new. When I was in high school in the 70's I knew a lot of "ricers". They were just doing pointless mods to crappy american cars instead of imports. Installing hood pins on the old family wagon when you don't even know where the nearest drag strip is -- that was ricer. Racing stripes on a 6-cyl Ford Maverick -- that was ricer. Traction bars on a 6-cyl Mustang. Chrome valve covers for an El Camino with a 2 speed auto.

(I'd forgotten how many dumb friends I had! )

Almost forgot... The Cavalier with the lambo doors I saw a few weeks ago. That was ricer!

Either way no worries , the world would be pretty boring if we didn't have stuff to look at and shake our heads. I have lived at the beach all my life I'm a old married fart and still can't believe guys come down here wearing shorts and black socks with dress shoes, that is truly WTF ?
Good points. And on that last bit - we get that on the East Coast too
