Default good winter vehicles?

Finally retiring my S from DD and winters. A glorious day and a sad one at the same time. I already miss the S after a full day without sitting in it or cleaning it.

Recently purchased an 86' Nissan D21 king cab v6 4x4 5speed, this thing is friggen lifted something insane

I need to get pictures to show you guys this unproportionate hight difference.
Anywho, it has been a dillema and searching pain finding one that isnt for sale like its crafted with platinum off of a meteorite with 200K+ miles and a body/frame full of rust. (midwesterner nightmare/unfortunate reality)

Tell more about this truck is its got a 3.0L v6, not the best gas saver for one.
Its 24 years old, so everything but the tires and gas are outdated.
(working off a 34K job with rent, car payment and college)
Extensive craigslist searches got me to a "trade for a quad or ill take 1K cash" ad,
$750 later and it drove 92 miles back home on chicago highways like a champ.

I'd say dont underestimate these things, if your on a budget and want to get a nice winter vehicle, don't overlook the potential of those little trucks. Would have preferred a Toyota though.

As the weeks count down to winter and my preps on the truck finish, ill be sure to keep updates on issues and mileage i recieve with it.
Ill get the lift and tire size information to add in as well.

Preps include standard used vehicle buyers tune up.
Spark plugs (TBA)
Oil and filter (TBA)
trans fluid (TBA)
diff fluid (TBA)
coolant (TBA)
alignment (Tuesday)
air filter (done)
brakes and pads if needed (Good )
a serious detail in and out (exterior kinda done)
plus a little overpowering air freashener (opened windows)
Changed headlights so far as one wasnt working.

Anyone else with $2000 and under winter vehicles?
Good bad experiences, car suggestions?

Would be pretty cool for a winter vehicle sticky including other s2ki'ers reviews of their winter and DD's aside our S.
Pro's con's etc
That way fellow s2k members would have a good idea where to start or reference to when searching for that "bad weather mainly" vehicle.
