Looks like I'm getting a red '91 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 5-speed with 155k miles for $2000. I'm buying it from a friend (guy I sold my '94 Talon to) so I do trust him. Plus, I know a lot about these cars so I know exactly what to look for.

not on topic but would anyone ride a scooter? they look fun, plus you get 40+ mpg.
Heck, a heavy, bulky, inefficient cruiser motorcycle can get 40mpg. Many small motorcycles get 50 mpg or better. And scooters get up to 100mpg.

In addition to gas savings, motorcycles cost much less than cars and the insurance is much lower.

I vote for a Sentra SE-R also. Great cars and with some bolt ons, they can be pretty quick. 30+ mpg on the highway too.

^ i agree the 90-93 accord would be a good choice. I owned a 1992 maxima se (dohc) 5 speed manual, it had 190hp and it was pretty quick. The sohc models have 160 hp. the interior was suprisingly very very nice. Heated mirrors, all power options, sunroof, etc. I paid 2400 and it has 105k miles. it ran perfect. you should also look into mitsubishi diamantes and galants. Diamantes are made in australia and are high in quality. I had 180k miles on mine and then sold it. They have horrible resale so thats a plus for you. just look around... there are a lot of people trying to sell their hondas with 250k miles for over blue book price, dont fall for it. try to get as low of mileage import car as you can. dont ever buy a cavalier. even if it has 30k miles, it will break down and leave you on the side of the road. my .02

Exclamation

Another vote for the late model sentras. They are 95% as reliable as civics of the same years at about 70% of the cost. Two years ago I picked up a nice dark green 94 le automatic with 80k on the clock for $2000. Just kit 100k last month bought her new tires and thats it....stupid reliable...good in the snow....not a rocket but will cruise well at 75-80 mph and get me 30 mpg in mixed driving with an auto.

The only thing that a pain in the butt is trying to find 13 inch tires for this thing... but they were like $35 a tire when I found them....the only known problem on these motor is a leaky front main seal around 100k....easy fix and I 'll do it myself when the time comes....
