when I got my S2000 4 years ago, I sold my neighbor my 91 Escort (3-door). It had 99K miles on it and I sold it for $1200. Since then he has put on another 50K with almost no maintaince except for a new battery and starter.
He loves it b/c it gets 30+ mpg.

Just curious- How long do auto trannies last in these Maximas? Also, are they good in the snow (with or without snow tires)? Thanks!

My beater is a 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-R. I bought it 4 years ago from its original owner for $2000. It had only 75,000mi on it. It has been a GREAT car. It has been very fun to drive and super reliable. The only thing I've replaced so far was the original 11 year old factory battery. Right now it probably needs a new clutch soon and I think the struts have seen better days. But it's never left me stranded.
It's pretty much unstoppable in the snow too...

you found a idiot. tell me his phone number so i can sell him my old gym socks for 20 bucks a pair
Believe it or not there is a huge demand for older Honda Civics/CRX's in good shape right now. I bought a 90 CRX Si about six months ago for $2000 and could easily sell it right now on ebay for $3000+. With the gas prices the way they are, many people are looking for lightweight cars that get excellent gas mileage. Combine that with a brand that had a reputation for some of their best build quality in the early 90's and you get a higher than average demand.
What's your take on this car? Another idiot? To me its an enthusiast knowing exactly what they want. Something small and light, tossable in the corners, and capable of getting 35+ mpg on the freeway. Seems like a no brainer to me.

What about this one?

For some reason, I don't think the same market exists for your gym socks. Sorry.

I took a long time to find my beater knowing that sooner or later something ideal would come up. I ended up getting my 95 Accord EX for 2k with 200k on it. It's a tank
