Default GM cans the GTO

GTO is dead

Seems it was such an excellent car that GM has decided to put it out to pasture.

Too bad I won't miss it.

The present model is going out of production as GM constructs the new Zeta RWD architecture, says the source.
Isn't the new Camaro to be based off this platform? Who knows? We might see another GTO in 3 years based on the Zeta. Not sure how the new Camaro would fare in the market. All these retro-styled cars from Detroit are a little overwhelming for me. But then again, they look better than any of the Bangalized Bimmers.

The camaro is a decidedly male car.

the mustang does so well because women buy the V6 model. I don't see women buying the V6 camaro. Without that mass market, the car may not materialize.

I wonder why these car companies resurrect these dead lines. They died for a reason. The camaro died due to slow sales. No matter how people want to spin it, or talk about bang for the buck, the $$$ aspect doesn't justify bringing these lines back. Just more bone headed decisions by a company in trouble. They should have spent the money on improving their bread & butter. Improving their pathetic excuse of a sedan line (Impala & Malibu).

This is proof that GM is so screwed up that they can sell tons of mediocre cars, but can't move the few good ones that make.

The Nissan 300ZX died a slow death due to lack of sales. It was reborn as the 350Z which has enjoyed great success. Your point is?
