Getting car maintenance history from dealership
Guys,
I am about to buy a beater (1999 Honda Passport) from a first owner. The owner is no longer in the state so the dad is in charging of the transaction. From what I was told, the car has all the service done by the local honda.
Can I wall in/call that dealership to give me the history of the maintenance once I purchased that car? I am curious to know if the timing belt has been changed. I rather not replace it if it has been done. The car has 105K miles. I really don't want to assume cause I have a breakage with a timing belt before with another car.
Would a honda dealership have these kind of information?
I know in the past when I go in for service, they would bring up the history of my vehicle and tell me to bent over as to what service I needed
Thanks,
Tntrac

Apparently you don't read Consumer Reports because they say to avoid this model like the plague. One of the only Honda's with a black mark on reliability. I heard that total engine failure is common on these. Do not buy for any price - worthless.

I bought it cause I needed to haul jet ski. I won't put too much mileage on it.
It is an Isuzu. I did read it before buying. Should have gone with a pathfinder or 4 runner.
