General used car option
So I've been looking at some Mazdaspeed3s, and came across three that may fit the bill:
1. 2008 with 16k mi - offered at 18k
2. 2008 with 23k mi - offered at 18.5k
3. 2009 with 18k mi - offered at 19k
Assuming the price and options were the same, which would of these would be the 'better' deal? According to the Carfax, the '09 racked up the 18k in 6 months.
The only hitch for my on the '08 with 16k on it is that it's black, and being in SoCal it's a drawback for me - too hot.

Black is the best color (for cars), someday you will realize this. Sounds like a lot of highway mileage for the 09 though, so that might be preferable. Is there any difference in the model years?

I really like black - when it's clean, and not in SoCal (I was looking at a STI a few months ago and literally could not touch it because it was so hot).
Model years are the same (technically there's a difference between '08 and a '08.5 refresh, but all are post refresh I believe).

Didn't they change some stuff halfway through 08? I think some of the interior finishes changed and maybe some other stuff. That might make a difference in the car's value to you, even if not in the book value.

The biggest discount from new by a used car happens right after you buy it. So, I would go for the 09. 23k miles is not a lot of mile and it's a good deal.

That many miles in that short of a time = highway. Resale will be > $1k more on that car due to the model year.

'09 w/ 18k for $19k, EASY.
All else equal of course...

+1 for 09. grand more for a current model year. #2 makes no sense when compared to the other two, but when you're looking at somewhat new cars, you can and should be picky about color so I'd wait for the one you want.
If there are improvements in the 09 over te 08 then it's an even bigger no brainer, itll retain its value better when you inevitably sell it down the road.
Good prices for great cars btw, you could probably bargain it down a lil more I would imagine if those are asking prices, so I'd def go with the 09 since it seems like you're looking for as fresh as possible.
