A lot of the speed related accidents I've read about a are single car events. Meaning the driver takes himself out. Sure there are those jack asses that race and kill other people, but a motor cycle can also take out a car. I just read a stunt driver on a motorcycle was doing 120+mph on a highway and caused a SUV to swerve and hit another SUV and injured 5 people.

This car is bizarre in that I have seen 1/4 mi. times from 12.2 to 11.2 and every thing in between. I know tracks vary, but 1 full sec. on a car already doing 11's is a lot of time. Maybe the famous Ford "production" variances ?

last year's tests were "pre-production" cars with 500-hp. Now 550-hp. I think this is also a pre-production car but it's getting better with age.

Yeah, I'm puzzled as well. Moreso than the times themselves, the massive jump in trap speed is incredible. I think the GT is coming with 550rwhp stock. Of course we won't know this until the cars start being driven.

Don't miss:

The Enzo has horrible gas mileage 8/12 (city/highway) and the Ford GT get's 13/21 nearly twice as good....

So who cares? The Enzo has a huge gas tank 29 gal and the Ford GT only 17 gal.

The Carrera GT splits the two 10/16 and 24 gal tank.

Also cargo capacity:

Ford GT 1 cu ft
Enzo 1.2 cu ft
Carrera 2.7 cu ft

It's called throwing a ham fisted jackass journalist behind the wheel and having him do quarter mile runs. The writers in most of these magazines are just that "writers". With a car of this caliber you can burn up a second or more with too much wheel spin off the line and never get back the et or trap speed you wasted in the first 60'.

The engine in the Ford GT has a dry sump oil system. How many production cars have that?
911 Turbo's.

First before I get to the issue that I have with the times on the GT, You could almost drive the thing daily in my opinion with the engine in the state of tune that ford is releasing, several mustang/lighting owners are pusing a lot more power out a similiar engine. With the Enzo, can you imagine driving the thing more then 2-4K miles without having some monster expensive to replace. The GT in my opinion will end up like the NSX , stupid fast, daily drivable if you feel up to it.

Now my issue with the times is ~11.2 with 550hp at the crank at 130+ is really not possible in my opinion. It weights ~3400 + 200 or so for the driver. Gives yu about 6.5 pounds per hp. My Cobra replica with 14 inch slicks at ~2200 + 150 driver with ~575 at the rear wheel ~4.1 pounds per hp can bearly brake into the 10's with an experienced driver. (IE not me) hiting ~130 mph. They have to A have a huge traction control system on that car, which you would not really use on launch (unless they set it up that way) or an amazing driver/tailwind/and rolling down hill. At these speeds my opinion is that any of the quarter mile calculators get tossed out the window.

My opinion Ford is underrating the HP, they don't want another new cobra debacle, or they are sending ringers which I don;t think that they would ever do.

That would be my guess. They severely under rated the new Cobras. They are rated at 390 and I have seen them consistently make 370rwhp stock.

If the GT makes close to 500rwhp stock, imagine what a pulley and chip could do.
