Why couldn't they just call this car the next gen Taurus? It feels weird that Ford is getting rid of the Taurus (maybe since I had one as my first car )

I'm going to be completely different than usual and say this car actually is getting back on the right track. I've seen better pictures of it and it seems to be decent looking - perhaps more flamboyant than an Accord or Camry (which is good AND bad), but certainly more eye catching either way.

Be interesting to see how it drives...

Based on Mazda6 I believe. Mercury and Lincoln are also getting versions.

Rumors are that the SVT version is gonna be pretty kickass. I hear 4WD and 300+HP out of a blown V6.

Seriously, why everything on the front looks so square? If they can't find a decent designer, they should just give up on this car business once and for all and stop this prolong pain and suffering of the car buying public.

Just that when you think the Ford 500 is boring looking.

Ford 500 is a nice car. Has TONS of room. Built on the Volvo s80 platform. If they would just give it more juice, I think it would be a good seller for its price.. Fusion=Mazda 6 with less style and Ford logo on it.

I don't get it though. Often times, American car companies use a shared platforms, make them uglier and more boring looking and then put their emblems on them. Do they have a rule in their design centers that they have to make everything uglier before release their new cars to the public?

Why? just like Toyota matrix. Pontiac put some fins on it and sell it as one of theirs? I see far too many matrix on the road than Pontiac Vibe. Just because the Vibe (basically the same car) is uglier.

Actually, the Pontiac Vibe is rebadged as a Toyota and sold in Japan! I was literally floored when I saw a Vibe sitting in a Toyota showroom. The US version seems to be the redesigned model by Toyota... which is pretty weird considering the Japanese model still adopts the Pontiac front grill design.
