IMO when people say "but it's a Focus" it makes me think they haven't spent any seat time in a new Focus.
That's because they probably haven't. This isn't the same crappy Ford of the 90s, or even early 2000s... they've really stepped up their game.

After test driving a bunch of cars in the segment(civic si, sentra, gti, mazda3, fiesta ST etc), looking to replace the S for something more practical, I can say the focus ST came out ahead for me, as far as driving pleasure goes. IMO the focus interior is just about the nicest in the segment, just a tad behind the GTI, however the Ford has a lot more tech built in for a better price. Say what you will about My ford touch, but it has tons of functionality if you know how to use it (everything is voice activated so not that difficult).

Plus, Ford dealers are actually willing to deal, and there's a lot of incentives/rebates (0% financing) going on right now. Unlike VW dealers in my town that option out their GTIs to 30k and act like they're some kind of luxury brand.
Yep I agree 100% with you. The deals you can get on a fully loaded ST are crazy. To get a fully loaded every single optioned ST MSRP 30k for 23,700. I don' think you can beat that! No other brand new car can touch it on bang for the buck IMHO. I recall someone getting a SI for 22k which is great but I do think the Focus ST beats it, at least for me.

I got my '13 Si sedan w/ nav and 5 yr. 70k bumper to bumper warranty for $21,235. I initially was looking at the ST as well. Didn't know you could get them that cheap, as it would have been a tougher decision. However, I'm much more comfortable in the Si (ST's Recaros are too constricting for me), and it's a great commuter car that's fun to drive while being reliable and easy on maintenance.

It's ironic that nobody seems to give the Si for being the lightest car in its class. They're the only ones I'm aware of that are under 3,000 lbs., and they feel very light on their feet.

Looks like a great option if you're in the market for a new car. Me? I'll spend $9k on a 06 TSX 6spd, get a hondata reflash, and be more happy.

great idea minus being able to find them! They are rare. I love the style and they are easy to work on compared to anything boosted.
K24 is proven reliable engine. K series motors are surpassing 300,000 miles just like the old D-series have done regularly. Just don't put cams in them and you need replace that damn chain tensioner everyonce in a while.

This seems off the wall. A quick search of TSXs shows that there are very few priced at 9k and the ones that are have 150K+ miles on them. I am sure they are good cars but hardly comparable to a new car. Also the TSX wasn't made as a wagon until 2011, also a 2.4L TSX is slower...

Just saying, did you get a 9k 6speed tsx recently? and if so, pics?

Is it really a standout lightweight? I mean 200 lbs lighter than my WRX doesn't seem like any feat considering the drive-train differences.

If you consider the Mini Cooper S to be in the class it its about 2600 lbs

Any Acura priced under 10K is going to have a shit load of miles on it. A shit load of miles on a Honda really means nothing but I personally wouldn't buy a car with so much miles. There are some low mileage 04-08 TSX's with asking prices STILL in the in the upper teens/low 20s. Acura resale is really something else.

Sit in the back seat of a Mini or a Fiesta, then see if you feel the same. Mini only has 2 doors as well.

The Si has 7 more cu. ft. passenger space than the Fiesta's 85. 5" more rear legroom. 2" more rear hiproom. 4" more rear shoulder room. I found the Focus' back seat to be fine, but the Fiesta's is too small for my needs. Glad it works out for you!
