Default Five classics that could double in value in five years

Five classics that could double in value in five years, and the S2000 CR is one of them.

The Hagerty name there is the only thing that gives this article any credibility.

S2000 CR going for mid 60's? Maybe if it has 50 miles or less on it in 15-20 years.

The article said $50K and is based on a doubling of the current value that the writer is using.

I agree it is a long shot over a mere five years.

Agreed. It would have to follow that a normal s2000 also doubles in price from $15k-->$30k.

That would follow aircooled Porsche dynamics of cleaner carreras going for $50k and special models like an RS america going for $100k+.

Or, even simpler, E30s, which have seen somewhat stupid price increases for what they are. E30m3 went from $12k in 2005 to $25k-$30K now. Similarly, cleaner late model E30s (manual, IS, mostly restored/running, and not turned into ratted out drift machines) used to go for $3500 and now sell for $7k easily (i would know. i shipped one for $7k to a buyer in Florida based on pictures, videos, and my good word).

You forget that the CR was made in far fewer numbers( 699) than the base S2000. That and the fact even fewer "delete" model CR's were made (59 total) are already fetching $30,000 dollars in stock form with less than 20K miles. I don't find it out of the realm at all that the CR will increase in value, will it double in value, perhaps. The next great explosion in collector value will be with the Japanese car market.
