even the SV650S can prove to be too much for a beginner's bike, even with it's smooth throttle. It kinda depends on how big you are too, if you really wanna play it safe start out on a 250, like the Ninja 250 and such. However if you're a bigger or taller guy the 250 may be too small for you, then a 500 should be a better choice. If you're serious about learning to ride, and staying in the sport... then throw your ego out the window and forget about the looks of the bike or getting a brand new bike. Get a used beater bike, ride the crap out of it and when you feel ready to move up then maybe consider the F4i or R6, although the F4i is more use-friendly than the R6. Take the MSF course as well, because you learn lots of valuable stuff that could very well save your ass.
Another good place to search for advice about starting up your riding career is to check out www.sportbikes.net and www.sportbikeworld.com
do a search at both forums and you'll find lots of valuable information on starting out and what bikes are good for beginners. Good luck and keep your head screwed on straight! Motorcycling is a joy and great fun, but it is also dangerous. If you are getting a bike just to "get chicks" and be a poser, then you may be getting a bike for the wrong reasons. If you've thought this through and have decided that it's something you want to do, then welcome to a whole new world of thrills and excitement, just remember to ride safe and never stop learning!

I'm kinda a bigger (I weight 200). I saw my friend had a 250 and honestly, that bike looked like a mopad.... anyway, I am definitely going to the safely course before I get anything. I'm thinking to save enough so I don't need to finance it. It's going to be a long way.
Thanks for your advance.
