OK, I'm going to spell this out step by step for the denser contributors to this thread:
Thread title: FIA Confirms S2000 Spec-Based Future For WRC
OP's post: I was so excited to see that only to be disappointed (implied that the disappointment was upon his discovery that it's not the HONDA S2000)
My response: The (Honda) S2000 would make a horrible rally car!
Next comes the chorus of ignorance....

OK ****ers, let's see someone rally their S2000 successfully and prove me wrong. Until then, you're in denial.
I know you know, just clearing it for others The disappointment is that wrc is becoming "nascarified"

Only once they start racing on ovals instead of rally stages will become like Nascar.

This is probably the only alternative WRC have. I would love to go back to the good old days when Toyota, Subaru, Mitsubishi, and all the European Manufacturers were competing. The FiA really dropped the ball over the years only focusing on F1. Hopefully the Super 2000 spec will attract the manufacturers back with the cost saving. Toyota is out of F1 so they may comeback with a factory team. I'm sick and tired or watching Sebastian Loeb and Citroen winning every year.
