I looked at the prices of the F360/F430 and the F550/575 when I was debating putting a deposit on a Ferrari. I was amazed at the fact that even though the 550/575 cost more they dropped in value quicker the 460/430. So I was thinking, hmm, if the 599 does the same - maybe I can wait a couple of years and pick up a 599 for $150k.-$175k
Ya well that logic is gone after all the hype/demand of the 599. I saw one car listed for $500k last week. The car is definetly in a whole other league than a 575. I prefer its styling to the F430 and on top of that how can you pass up on getting an Enzo motor for 1/2 off.

Anyone who thinks its ugly could probably use an eye exam! IMO, it's the most beautiful non-pure sports car Ferrari has ever made.
Ugliest? I assume you haven't seen the 365GT or 400GT?

Love the wheels! Man, those are pretty cars.
Ritesh, if you buy one, I'm going to be getting checkups in Tyler on a regular basis!

As much as I love Ferrari's and the heritage, I don't think I have the stomach for buying one. To buy a F430 or 599 you need to:
A. Buy a used car from the Ferrari dealer at a high price.
B. Get bumped up on the waiting list by A.
C. Wait 3+ years.
D. Buy the car at MSRP.
E. When you sell it - make sure you sell it the Ferrari dealer.
F. Don't drive it too much - value goes down yet maintenance goes up.

A few ESIs will at least pay for the first payment on it. That's about all I can offer.
They're sick cars but I agree - it's too much of a hassle for anyone that's remotely "normal" in terms of wealth. I think a net worth of about $10M would be about right for a car like the 599.
I think I'd have to be making about $2M a year to not care about the car or going through the hassle (I could have someone pick it up, drop it off, just write a cheque for maintenance, etc, etc). Last I checked, most engineers weren't making that kind of bank...
