The R&T test driver must be good. Based on this data, its faster than a CGT. However, this video doesn't confirm that.

The 599 makes the much pricier McLaren Mercedes SLR obsolete.

Unfortunately, they will dumb it down for us Americans.
I'll cry over that when I can afford one. For that matter, when I can afford one I'll just fly over to Europe and drive the one I keep garaged at my chateau.

I got to see a 599GTB-F in person yesterday (along with MANY other notables), and it is more impressive in person. To know that what is a hot-looking but civilized car in demeanor can pull down these numbers, adds to its appeal. I would agree with the statement that it makes the Mercedes SLR very unattractive in more than one way.

There was one thing that struck me about the 599 in person though. The front brake discs were so huge, they looked fake, and actually kinda chintzy. I know they're not, but there was a definite visual drawback to having a set of brake rotors that massive, barely hidden by extravagant 19" wheels. It may sound cool that you have pizza pan-sized cross-drilled brakes, but the look doesn't back up the hype.

That has got to be the most absurd thing I have ever read.
You actually find the 599 ugly?

When it first came out, I actually thought the 599 was, well, not quite ugly but certainly not that attractive. Now, having seen some of the detail on the car and getting a better sense of it in person, it is a BEAUTIFUL machine. Love the rear buttresses and the long hood. Sexy car!

This is definitely THE GT car to own.
