Fastest A to B Car?
#12
I think I would probably take an Evo RS with 350bhp. It would have to be the fastest point to point car I've driven. I am sure even the porsche turbo would be left for dead in the really twisty stuff.

Well, I would have to recommend the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. I drove one saturday, and I have been lusting ever since. I would have no problem traveling 800 miles or so a day in that. Very comfortable, can seat 4 or 5 in a pinch. Oh, and it has 450 HORSEPOWER! It was freakin' cool

It's gotta be either the EVO RS or the WRX STI s202b. Look at where those cars are designed to go. There's no beating a rally inspired turbocharged monster in an overall A to B race.

Don't forget that you should list primarily:
1. The fastest car made right now
2. Historically fastest car (if you feel there was one that is no longer in production that was faster).
Cayenne.. lol... seriously..?

996 TT. Quickest car in the straighline from the ones mentioned here (bar the McLaren F1), has 4WD and handling/grip to match it's straigh line punch. Also it's not too heavy.
996 TT is the car that has won (and dominated) the Targa-Tasmania last 3 years running. (Targa Tasmania is a 5 day road rally in all weather conditions (bar ice and snow). Also a lot of the roads are very bad and sometimes have loose-surface).
No EVo/STi can match the 996TT once the road opens up a bit. I'm sure they can 'hang' through the twisties and maybe be even quicker, but not enough to make the huge straightline deficit.
ps. Next option would be Nissan GTR.

uhhh....Who says the evo or STI even need to be on the road? This is the fastest from A to B, not the fastest on specific roads. Obviously if it's limited to roads everything changes, but the whole point of the A to B debate is that you don't have to use roads, any shortcut possible will get you there quickest. Ever watched Rally races? Those guys cut through some intense terrain. No way the 911TT can take that abuse.
