are fast cars less enjoyable on the street?
curious if people with pretty fast cars (vettes, 911 turbos, modded S2000s) find them not as fun to drive on the street as a stock car (say s2000). i find the s2000 pretty fun to drive, and i think part of it is that it's not so fast that i can actually take in the acceleration on the street. you can feel/sense the speed change, whereas a really fast car on the street might just be blur before you have to stop for the next light/it becomes unsafe/cops/etc.

the best part of driving for me comes highway exit and entrance ramps. those are enjoyable in any kinda car, fast or slow. but on regular streets i think super fast cars can be a little boring because u just seem to be at the speed limit and trying not to exceed it too much.

I discussed this a while back. In some ways, I enjoyed my Vibe GT I used to have more than my C5 ON THE STREET because I could exploit more of the Vibe's performance without attracting unwanted attention. Figure 15-20 seconds of full throttle to wind out the first 3 gears in the Vibe while only hitting 90mph. If I went full throttle in the Vette for 20 seconds, I'd probably be getting close to 150mph if not faster, not sure though..
Either way, you just need to track the fast cars more to get the enjoyment you feel wringing near 100% out of a fast cars performance as y2ks2k mentioned.
An S2000 arguably might be more fun to drive around town than a C5, even a Z06, because you have more opportunities to use closer to 100% of the S2000's performance.

i find my S2000 to be more fun than my stepdad's 600hp GT2 unless we're on a remote open road. His car is just so fast that if you touch the accelerator you're at the next light/car/etc before you can blink.
This is why i think the Elise should be the most fun car ever.

Well not only that but try dealing with high powered clutches and high stall transmissions.......that gets old REALLY fast on the street..........also you do attract unwanted attention a lot.........I like cruising in my bone stock civic the most during everyday activities because I can just sneak along and not attract attention.

That's what I worry about IF I were to get something like the C6 Z06. After 3 seconds of acceleration, you are breaking the law. AND you get notced more if you are doing 1G acceleration runs. Also if you do a fast acceleration (even if it's just up to the speed limit) you can get a ticket for exhibition of speed.
In the S2000, it's hard enough to chirp the tires. Although I did get a warning for "spinning my tires" F-n cops. Probably couldn't hold up in court.
