There are sooooo many parts for the 4g63/4g93 engine, thats 10's should not be big problem in a evo8, that engine has been in america for over a decade almost twenty years in japan.

2 things
First, stock for stock. Remember the us EVO has a 5spd and 271hp. This is not just 7hp off of the JDM evo, the JDM evo makes like 310 easy they just under rate them. Add about 100 lbs to americanize it. I'd estimate the Stock US EVO 8 will be way slower than it's JDM counterpart. (way in car guy speak .5- 1 second)
Second, Ultimate potential, first 5k Evo will probably beat the S2k for 5 k. for 10k they would probably be close
If your after ultimate potential for a cheap price. You can get almost any car and dump 15k - 20k into it, you should be able to hit 10's. Heck just go the used car lot and buy the cheapest car there. Then fork over the 30k you were going to spend on an EVO / s2k. You'd be running tens in a couple of weeks.

I agree as well. I am not a big EVO fan which is weird considering I am a mitsubishi owner myself. I think the car is going to be a bear and people don't realize it yet. Unfortunately, its already at 19PSI and the interior is similar to the 15K base lancer. Also, a 4 door should not be a sports car. It *WILL* be quicker than most people think tho. Just my two cents.

I believe the 19 pounds is set to come on early, but programmed to fall off to about 15-16 by redline. I read that somewhere. Though 16 pounds is still a lot for a factory car. With that in mind, I think it'll still pull on an S2000...from stand-still, roll, even a 70+ highway roll. But I still wouldnt trade my S in for one.

The EVO VIII will DEVOUR S2Ks [and just about anything else for that matter] "in the curves". And recall that we don't get the "full monty" driveline either.... They have outrun just about everthing that the European test editors have thrown at them for some time now. I'd imagine that it would take a car like a 911, M3 or 'Vette to beat some dents into the EVO's sheetmetal. Just you wait and see.
