had a Lotus Espirit many years ago, loved that car. I never had an issue but remember a friend with same year and everything who had nothing but issues. Once we were parked and both left to go elsewhere, he reached for the door handle and the whole freaking assembly came off in his hand. Brit autos will always be Brit autos BUT they are wonderful mistresses if bitchy....

My local Mazda dealer has an 07 Exige S for $43 with 13K on the clock. I sat in it and started it up. The build quality leaves a lot to be desired, but just knowing what it can do makes it a worthwhile.

I was very temped.

um...exige s 240 and s2k is in two different league.
As performance wise, you could hardly compare these two, although i have never driven 240 version, exige s was already hella fast and scary enough for me. I mean, elise was already hardcore enough for me.

My major concern when I was considering one was, ingress/egress and fragil frame.
My gf wears skirt alot and there was no way I could take her to any public places, it required way too much exposure.

Anyways, if this is going to be your weekend sports car, exige is the shit.
Your S will feel like '98 vovlo after exige test drive. You could have my word.

one thing that hasnt been mentioned is crash safety.

it's bad to wreck an S or a C6, but it seems like, most likely, you'll walk away. i've seen many pictures of DEMOLISHED elise/exiges, and i'm led to believe the structure of the car is not as safe as most commuter vehicles. i'm sure most of those owners were doing something stupid, but the fact remains, they're dead.

if you drive it safely (like a motorcycle), it sounds like a great toy!

I am considering selling my 07' S to purchase an Exige S 240.
It's your money. Spend it how you please, don't ask us to justify your decision.

In the end, you should simply think about a few things:
1) Why did you buy the S2000?
2) What is it about the S2000 that you're not satisfied with?
3) Why do you want to buy the Exige?
4) Will those desires change in 6 months?
5) Are the answers from 2-4 motivating enough to take the financial hit associated with selling the S2000 and buying the Exige?

At the end of they day, you can make a good financial decision, or you can buy the Exige.

You should consider the depreciation.
Lotuses don't have good resale value.
