Exige S 240
Hey Guys,
I am considering selling my 07' S to purchase an Exige S 240. Of course everyone on Lotus Talk is bias and tells me to get into an Exige, but I wanted opinions from fellow S2000 owners.
I have a very bad habit of not keeping cars for more than one year. Had an RX-8 for less than 6 months and I have had my S for less than a year. (Only put 8k miles)

Do it. Why wouldn't you, unless you like the convertible. They are very different cars, but if you can live with the exige i'd do it in a heartbeat.

If you fit.
I'd love to have an Exige, but just couldn't live with the ergos getting in and out. It is just too tight. If you're 5'7" and limber, go for it.
I'm not, and the S does everything I need, including giving me a tan.

If it's not going to be your daily driver, and you can swing the pricetag, go for it.
You might miss some of the "niceness" of the S2K, but when this is going to be your pleasure mobile, I think it won't matter. Just give me a ride when you get it

I haven't heard reliability problems on them. Hell you have a Toyota engine and tranny.
ECU programming wasn't stable at the beginning.
Car had idling problems like stalling, rough idle, etc.
He once had his engine oil squirting out of the rear, soaking my other buddy's NSX.
Just a few minor(?) issues that can arise from a low-production vehicle, but other than that, it's a great car.

to OP;
don't expect a shifter like the S2000 from the Lotus.
The only thing I HATE about that car is the crappy shifter.
Make sure to test drive one before you sign anything.
Good luck with your purchase!

My friend has an Exige S - he uses it as a daily (work isn't too far and he only goes 3x/wk). He has no complaints. I've sat in it (yet to drive it!); just be aware of the compromises you're making (very poor rear view with side mirrors only, hard ingress/egress, even more limited cargo space, loud, etc) for the things you are getting (accel, handling, looks, etc). He's had no probs with maint either.

Its funny, lately I see a lot of people "trading" or getting rid of the S, its a one of kind car that is timeless. When its time for another car I will turn the S into track only, but never sell it, just buy another car and keep the S...............
