Evo's, Z4's, Z5's oh my!
Bad weather kept me in the Land Rover today,, which always makes me car-hungry for some new sports car for some reason. Errands brought me close to both the BMW dealer. I stopped in for a chat with my very friendly sales-guy. Last few visits yielded test-drives in an M3, M-Coupe (315hp) and 993 C4S. Alas, nothing to drive today , so we chatted a little about the Z3 replacements.
As far as we collectively know, the Z3 is being replaced with the "Z4" (name tenative) that will replace the roadster. Supposedly improved looks, much stiffer body, 2.5L, 3.0L and "M" engined versions. Moving up in price, so likely $40K - $55K to compete with the boxster?
Also the "Z5" will replace the Z3/M coupe, is the lightweight (now they are saying 2200 pounds) coupe with the high-revving, high specific hp 4 cyl. Price is anybodies guess...
Can be first on the list for MSRP on either... Hmmm.
M3 Coupes from this dealer still have a large list, though they had a nice titanium Cab that the new owner was thinking of backing out of...
Next errant took me to the Mitsu dealer, where they are generally clueless and very greedy.
For $1,000, I can be third on the list for the new Evo VII or VIII, at "market" price!
They want me to give them $1,000 so they can tell me "your car is here, and you can pick it up for MSRP +, let's say $5,000" Great deal! :rolleyes
