I see them as totally different cars and targeted to different type of buyers.
IDK, if I was someone with an additional SUV at home and was looking for a more-sport-than-GT car and less-sport-than-track-car with a 2+2 seating and ~3000 pounds, these would be the only two that would come to mind in $60-80k price range.

What other apples / oranges are out there?

I'd have to drive the Evora to be sure, but if the Evora keeps most of the wonderful road feel of an Elise, but with more practicality then it is an Evora hands down.

If you want a 911, do it now. I just have horrible fears that VAG is going to screw things up one way or the other. I don't care if it's the same company behind Bugatti and Lamborghini, they're also the responsible for the one of the biggest loads of to ever come out of Germany, the Beetle with an Audi badge: the TT.

That being said, once I saw the Evora I was sold. I'd take the Lotus in a heartbeat.

Do you think the Evora will be hard to get in and out of like the Elise? It looks like there is a bit of a hump you need get over to get in the Evora like the Elise. This could be a con if its a daily driver.

Evora, but I'd want to drive both before buying either. I could see the Evora depreciating quickly which might make it a good used buy.

I can't believe how many people say this.

You guys seem to forget that even a base 2005 911 with a manual tranny is a fantastic drive.

I remember the first time I drove one I was giggling all the time.

ain't no way I'm ponying up that kind of money for a Toyota Camry V6. Give me the car with the engine designed and built for it, with decades of history and synergy.

That was basically my knee jerk reaction to seeing the poll title.

No doubt about it, the racing history, quality and purpose built engineering in the Carrera makes it a no brainer.

Frankly, I am shocked the poll is this close (60/40 Carrera).
