EVO vs. STi/WRX Battle (A Total Smack Down)
Enough with the internet, go out and back it up. That is exactly what the EVO and STi/WRX owners did on saturday. This past saturday the EVOs and STis/WRXs held a battle against each other at English Town drag strip, this event turned out to be very much one sided. The EVOs totally handed the STis/WRXs their ass. Props to both sides for showing up an representing, perhaps next year the STis/WRXs will put up a better fight. Here is a link to both sides talking about the event.

evo will always come out on top period.
when it comes to drag racing, the evo8 has too many advantages over the sti right now to change that.
1. 12+ years of engine modification history
2. 5 spd vs 6 spd
3. forged internals on a boost happy block
it's unfortunate though that so many people will leap to judgement that the evo8 is the better car based on results from a contest which neither car was really built for
if only the mr came w/ specs str8 from the jdm model and/or with a sub-sti price tag i would join the evo ranks too

evo does not always come out on top, that is far from the truth, watch a few best motoring videos and you'll know what i mean. i prefer the STi personally, due to the engine design and practicality. The US Evo's don't even have Super AYC (yaw rate sensor) like the jdm models or a 6 speed tranny or 300hp and 2.5L like the STi. STi boosts about 13.5psi making 300hp stock while the Evo is already at 19psi making 273hp. Plus, i'd rather my turbo and exhaust manifold not be so close to my radiator like it is on the evo, that just leads to overheating. Both Evo and STi are great cars, however i choose hondas inline fours over mitsubishi's (they just need some boost). The Horizontally opposed Boxer owns.

Bestmotoring is a joke. It is a bunch of different level drivers out playing. Sometimes the car in the back will be in the back for 5 laps, then all the sudden start to pass everyone (maybe they found the NOS button?).
It is funny how STI guys (y2ks2k) talk all smack about how fast their cars are vs the Evo, but when it came down to it it was all talk.

For 2005 the EVO MR gets a 6speed and on the dyno puts down more power than the 2005 STi. Either the MR is underrated at 276 hp or the STi is overrated at 300 hp.

Have you watched the best motoring video's? Some of those things are horrible. They put a RX7 in the back (for some reason) where it will "hang out" for a few laps, then all of the sudden the guy moves up to 2nd within about a lap and finishes second to an NSX....... but with the RX7 having a much better lap time posted at the end.
Those videos are pretty much meaningless in my opinion. I am sure there is a wide variety of driver skill out there at any given time.

aka Best Motoring which is VERY reputable
you mentioned that SCCA magazine with STI's dominating real racing at real tracks.? What tracks? What Class of racing? I know some people auto-x them and there was an STI that finished 5th or so in the Nationals in Astock...
Is there road racing with STI's vs Evos?
