I didn't think the Barchetta even had a top...

Apparently, Ferrari warns Barchetta owners via the manual to have the top down when you plan to exceed (I can't remember exactly) 40--50 mph.

Man, is that ever ugly. Then again, at the risk of being known as "insane" (or "more insane" ), I don't really like the looks of the Barchetta as much as the regular 550/575 Maranello. Just something about it makes it like a shoe or something...

Thats absolutely retarded.

Def. a car you'd only want to drive when its sunny outside. Even the 360 Modena Spyder and the 355 Spyder both look great when the top is up.

Yeah, don't consider the 550 Barchetta a real convertible like the 360 Spyder, it's more of a roadster with an emergency top in case it rains.

It's a nice car, but I prefer the coupe.

I used to agree with you jonboy that I didn't like the barchetta as much as regular 550's. then when i was working valet at a hotel this xmas, a guy in a barchetta stayed for over a week. i spent countless hours with that car :-) and i fell in love. even those rims grew on me. the guy wasnt a typical ferrari jackass either, and he didn't have the top for the car either, so i was always responsible for taking it into the garage when it looked like rain....about 30-40 times a day in miami of course.

Ferrari warns Barchetta owners via the manual, and a sticker somewhere in the interior of the car not to exceed speeds of 75 mph with the top on.

It's not a normal convertible top. It is stowed in the trunk (if you even feel like toting it around) for emergencies, and it is more like an erector set with some canvass than a conventional top.
