Ah i c.
They should just keep jason, becky (can;t help but have a crush on her), and of course Tiff who I would literally kill for to have his driving ability... actually all three are very good drivers.
But I guess were top gear succeeds and why fifth gear emulated them is in their way to fill time, unforunately there aren't enough new cars.
Imo, what fifth gear should do is appeal to the more knowledgeable motor head, have a little more lengthy reviews on hot cars, even have some project cars and follow them in their amateur/professional racing efforts. I used to love watching Tiff go to the ferrari/mcclaren plants and then try to drift in D1. Stop doing the bonehead challenges, you need the personality of top gear to pull that off.
Although I dislike the other three guys, the cheap guy actually had a good segment where he would find bargain sportscars (don't like how he drawed parallels to current supercars, lol) and the trio would do shootouts with older cars. In this they could exploit it a little further, back when cars like the Z32, FD, MKIV supra, cossies, etc etc were out, there really wasn't much in terms of car reviews like with the modern fifth gear and top gear. It should appeal to all ages, young folk can't buy new stuff, old folk like to see how it stacks up against the current stuff.
So between more critical reviews of new and old stuff, shootouts, project cars, perhaps even teach some driving techniques... they'd have enough meat for a good show.
Problem with television execs is that they only want #1s right now, as long as they can sustain a profitable show they should keep it until the next big idea hits.

I didn't mind Fifth Gear. Sad if true.

5th gear was a good hold over to Top Gear. I'll take 5th gear over Top Gear Australia any day of the week.

They needed a different format, and not so much copycat of TG - I think that's what killed it in the end.

Unfortunate. Fifth gear was great for most of the time it was on the air. Concentrated on the vehicle dynamics; not filled with stunts and such, like Top gear.

I've never watched 5th Gear to the point where I knew the announcers and hosts. I only watched a few of their car reviews via YouTube. As for Top Gear, it's one of the few shows I can actually enjoy watching with non-car enthusiasts as well.
