my sister's 1994 Civic EX crapped out yesterday, and we took it to a repair shop who diagnosed the problem as a faulty distributor. they want to install a totally new distributor kit (as to avoid repeating the problem with a used distributor kit) for $400 parts / $100 labor.

anyone familiar with old Civics - is this a fair price?

i had a 1995 civic EX the distributor went out a couple times which i think was due to how i drove it. i picked up distributors at a junk yard for $80 and put it on myself.,
