The percentage following the car is the total amount of depreciation that takes place based on five years and 15,000 miles per year. The smaller the number, the better. Keep in mind that the depreciation percentages are based on the national TMV price plus typical options plus destination charge.

This is certainly good news for us, but do you think we are actually far ahead of most cars? Since there is less than a 1% difference between spots 6 & 10 on the list, don't you think the data point density would increase alot as you go from 11 to 50 for example? All I'm asking is if its probable that the #50 spot on such a list as this would have a value of say 51% for example, thus making our 48% not seem so much ahead of the pack? Sorry if I sound like an ass. I guess a better way to ask this would be what is the weighted avg. for depreciation taken across all makes and models? That would be a good standard to judge our value [48.02%] against. If the avg. is something like 60% then we really do have something to celebrate!

 

how can mini cooper be on the list since they are not even been out for 5 yrs? they just project the depreciation price? or they are talking the old school cooper?

Another good excuse to by a Cooper! Since it's the lowest priced car on the list it also loses the least amount of money.

 

In terms of fewest dollars of depreciation, rather than percent depreciation, I think the Mini/BMW Cooper would be #1, the TL would be #2, and the S2000 would be #3...
