Default E60 Vs LS7, discuss :)

Which one do you like?

M5= 500HP 390TQ 5 Liter V10, under $100,000

VS

Z06 7 Liter V8, 500HP 475Tq, $65,000

So which motor do you like and why? I want to get a lot of different perspectives and get a good discussion going on these two very dynamic motors that achieve roughly the same thing. Thanks

No replacement for displacement. Aside from smoothness (TBD anyway), how can you not like the LS7? Besides, BMW has a little engine-failure history to get over (M3's).

I'll take the 2.0 Liter F20C over either of them.

actually, no.

just give me me the M5 engine.

also the E60 is the chassis code i believe, not the engine code.

I'd so choose the V10 that derives from Formula One. The sound of it is orgasmic. I don't know which one has more modding potential, but at 500 hp, I wouldn't need anymore power. The sound of F1 engines is sports bike-like, hence very incredible. I like that type of sound much more than the muscular V8 sound, like that of a Mustang or Camaro.

i doubt the M5's V10 will sound like an F1 engine...don't they sound that way because they rev to 18k RPM?

I doubt it will sound exactly like an F1 engine, but it will certainly resemble. Afterall, it is a derived engine from BMW's Formula One. The Enzo and Porsche GT don't rev to 18K, but they very much resemble F1 sounds.

Each has it's positives, but I would take the M5 engine hands down. There is somthing to be said about engineering achievement, extracting the most possible from very little , I prefer that to just dropping in a bigger engine.

But, from a reliability standpoint, the more complex something gets the higher its chances of failing, you have to respect the LS7, simple but it does it's job.
