Porsche generally provides the GT3RS free of charge to racing teams, for the publicity. They are not doing so with the Cayman, because (it is assumed) they don't want to detract from the 911s image as their premire sports car.

*shrug* most of the Porsche owners I know are PCA guys, which might explain their thoughts. They tend to do more track/auto-x stuff than your average owner, and the Boxster/Cayman just works a lot better for that.

I agree with you on the F355. The exhaust tone blows away the later gen mid-engined F cars.

but the fact still remains.
...that you're shallow enough to care more about image than driving dynamics.

Porsche actually discourages their supported race teams (like Farnbacher Loles, or whatever they're called) from building/competing in Cayman race cars, to the point that they'll lose factory support if they do so. They don't mind them building street modded Caymans, though. A 3.8 X51 equipped Cayman sure would be fun!

The only other 911 I've driven was a 996 GT2, and I can honestly say I prefer the Cayman's handling.

What sig? It's gone now, since you seem to think it's shallow. I just used many other sigs I see here as a template...

iceman, $55k ~ $3000 (post tax, 401k, benefits) per month. 30% invest = $2100 left
do u live in Northern VA? if so, rent ~ $1200. lease payment for 42k bmw ~ $500 so u have 700 left. u pay for food, clothes and u end up w/ $0 saved bascially. u want ur investments to compound w/ time value of money so u shouldn't pull it. so when will u ever save up for a condo/house of ur own? or a ring if u wanna propose? pay for wedding if u wanna marry? pay for diapers if u want kids?
yes u can live reasonably comfortable. and yes these are just estimates, but a better finanicial decision would be to save a bit b4 splurgin on a depreciating expense like a car
i'm sure u r very finanically responsible, but for alot of ppl like the OP, it seems like they r gettin some very 'off' advice in terms of wat to do w/ their $.
i agree somewhat... i didnt live in Northern Virginia, i was in the Virginia Beach area... my rent was ~$700... by your own math, id have $800 left over after rent and car payment and insurance... i dont now about you guys... but i wasnt spending anywhere close to $800 on food, clothing, and entertainment every month... i felt i had plenty left over for most incidentals...

maybe i wasnt living as well as some of you...

but i do agree, every situation is different and people spend differently... this is why i was saying the important figure is how much you have left over after all payments, rather than each individual payment...

Can you live on $200/week? Yes, but it isn't exactly "I drive a 911" money either.

iceman i hear u.
yah, nova is a bit more expensive in general than VA Beach so that could be why. u can definitely get by w/ 800/month but like someone else said, its not exactly luxury living. for some, to get a nice sports car, the rest also needs to match, like goin out to eat, clothes, entertainment, gf's...etc. and dont4get our insurance rates are high and there's car mods as well... to each his own of course. but in general, i'd like to advice ppl to be more conservative financially early on in their career... they can always upgrade and move up as they feel comfortable w/ their $ and get raises/promotions later...
