Just reading about the SMG makes me want to get an M3. Too bad I don't have the money for it. If I can have both an M3 SMG II and my S then I get the best of both worlds.

It is a call you need to make but keep in mind that the SMG has a 'learning curve' to truly appreciate it's nature. I felt that the SMG took away some of the driving experience and chose to stay with the manual. While I agree the tranny in the M3 is no where near the level of the S2000 a Short Shift kit from a reputable manufacturer improves the experience a great deal. If you're looking for a tranny as good as the S2000 I don't think you'll find one for under six figures. I have raced several SMG equipped M3's and have yet to loose a race but I consider myself to be a better driver than most. I pull consistent 13.0's at about 107mph at Gainesville in my M3. If u search the m3forum u will find the faster times are in the 6MT equipped M3's. 12.67 I believe is the fastest time I have seen there and that was a manual tranny car. i don't know of any STOCK SMG equipped cars that have run less than 13.2.
