you would yank out the motor on a 25-40K car? why dont you take out the existing motor and get it built for boost? unless you can find one for dirty cheap that needs work, thats going to be an expensive venture.

Yeah, FI on the E46 is damn expensive, but you should be pushing ~500hp.

[QUOTE=sahtt,Dec 4 2007, 04:18 PM]If the E46 ends up looking half as old as the E36 does now you might want to stick with your newer body style.

Yeah I'm with brock on builting the motor for boost. I was reading something on the supraforums by Boostlogics which developed a prototype turbo kit for the E46 and put out like 600rwhp on the stock block and else really modded. No exhaust upgrade or anything of that sort. They had a video of it running against their own Supra.

To answer your question I have no idea. Good luck with what you plan on achieving.

Just comparing outright looks, I would say BMW's age better than any other auto make, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
The E36 looks a lot older than a 1999 vehicle. I still think it looks good, old or not.

I would say technically it is old.

10 grand is what the M3 motor usually fetches, I'd rather just port/polish build the engine internally.

Still, I just wanted to know a simple question, can you fit motors onto that M3 6sp tranny?

Like the 3.0TT one found in the 135/335?

I have a simple question:
Why the would 335 twin turbo be better than the existing engine on the E46 M3 ?

Depends on what the user wants:

Me - E46 body, twin turbo for some extra power, easier to mod and smoother torque curve..

down the line, more 3.0 TT engines out there for parts compared to M3 parts

I know what I'm asking is alot, but again nobody has answered this question: can BMW engines fit other trannys?

Nobody here including myself dosent appear to know.

I could see the interest in doing it though. Both engines have about the same output and the TT would be much easier to mod.

The question is simply "why ?"

So far they have gotten about 400 whp from a 335 engine.

You can do that from a SC install on a E46 M3 (around 460-500 crank hp) with Dinan or AA.

Not to mention they have engine builds that will push the E46 M3 to closer to 550-600 whp (evosport)

And the swap would cost just as much if not more.

You would also lose the revvy nature of the E46 M3 engine, and may upset the balance of the chassis.

unless everything's a direct bolt-on (which i'm quite sure it's not), i'd pay horsepower freaks a visit and get a turbo kit for the s54 and call it a day. this engine has a ridiculously free flowing head and doesn't require much boost to make power at all
