It is pretty much common knowledge right now that the C6 Z06 will come in at around 500HP. There are others who have speculated it will follow the release of the C5 Z06 and be under 500 for the first release and slightly over for the second...gotta one up the SRT-10. The really important spec, in my mind anyway, is how much it will weigh. There are rumors of around the same as the C5 Z06 and as low as ~2850lbs. I am guessing it will be somewhere in the middle...probably right below 3000lbs.

either way...these all look pretty good to me.

enzo 3000/650 = 4.6lbs/hp
carrera gt = 3050/605 = 5.04lbs/hp
Ferrari F40 2425/478 = 5.07 lbs/hp
2850/500 = 5.7lbs/hp (C6 Z06 fingers crossed weight!!
3000/500 = 6lbs/hp (C6 Z06 most likely weight)
3130/500 = 6.26lbs/hp (C6 Z06 proposed weight same as C5 Z06)
gallardo 3153/500 = 6.3lbs/hp
ford gt = 3400/530 (i know 500, but initial reports look more then 500HP) = 6.4lbs/hp
srt-10 = 3300/500 = 6.6 lbs/hp
GT2 = 3131/472 = 6.6 lbs/hp
C5 Z06 = 3116/405 = 7.7lbs/hp
GT3 = 3043/380 = 8 lbs/hp

Anyway....it looks like it will keep some good company!
No matter what weights you have the C6 Z06 is world class in the performance category. It will handle well and be very cheap compared to it's performance competitors.

edit: Also since Cam and head upgrades are putting the C5 Z06 into the 600HP range and 1/4 trap speeds of 130...I would guess that the C6 Z06 will be able to touch close to 700 with no bottom end work N/A.

With the rumored LS7 motor displacing 6.4 liters, 500hp would only require 78.13 hp/ltr. The LS6 motor currently makes 71.06 hp/ltr. With the improvements in the LS2 carried over to the new LS7, I think 500hp would be very achievable with a decent cam and some rpms. I've read that the LS7 will be able to easily spin over 7000rpm, so the horsepower should be there.

You know, it wasn't long ago when 10lb per horsepower was a big deal.

Now, we're talking affordable 6lb per horsepower. That is just unbelievable.

Can't wait to see the Z06. I will be test driving one for sure.

Oh yeah, just for that chart, next GT3 will have 400+hp.
