i don't have specs on it but honestly how fast do you need somethin to be? There's no doubt it's fast as hell, although imho the 998 is much better lookin.

Sport Rider reported the following for the 999:
- 468 lbs with fluids; 442 lbs dry
- 70 ft-lb @ 8,000 RPM
- 119 HP (to the ground) @ 10,000RPM
- 1/4 mile in 10.29@133.65MPH
- 60-80 top gear roll on in 3.7 seconds
- 80-100 top gear roll on in 3.8 seconds
Last, and definitely not the least, $17,695 MSRP
If Ducati has done the same thing with this "R" bike that they did with earlier "R" bikes, the motor is only slightly different. Maybe spinning a little faster before the limiter kicks in and making 10 more HP (partially from improved exhaust). Typically the R suspenision is significantly upgraded and some carbon fiber nubs get thrown on. Now you have a $26,000 bike...retarded.

They say beuaty is in the eye of the beholder and for this bike its a good job it is. The bike has love it or hate it styling, all the reviews I've read about the bike say its an exceptional machine but for me its soo god dam ugly that I could never own one. The 998 is IMO a much nicer bike but technically probably not as good

Sat on one (999R). Wayyy too committed posture for me but the carbon fiber bodywork is too cool. Weird though, Ducati sends you bodywork stickers separately. Don't know what-all they say since the guy I was riding with hadn't mounted them. Sure as heck walked away from me in the twisties.

i own a 998R. IMO, the 999 is a much improved bike. I love the 998R, but the thing is, in all honesty, a beast to live with. it's a very engaging bike that requires a lot of skill to ride fast, and a lot of muscles in the back to live with. a lot of the things that are fixed with the 999. it's frankly a much easier bike to ride fast. but, the 998 is and will always be the best looking duc in my book. but hey, there's nothing wrong with change.
