alright cool guy
wait...what does manual mean again? oh yeah... that you have to rev match yourself.
an automatic is just a full manual transmission that shifts automatically...

^In that case that is cool--I was worried the ecu would not let it be disabled.
honestly though--if its faster that way I would probably never turn it off
Just one of those things that takes the "spirit" out of driving a manual car for me. Most people out there still do not know how to downshift properly so this should go over well.

I'm just glad I learned to downshift/rev-match properly before this technology becomes mainstream. I already get looked down on for using ABS...the same way I will look down on the next generation of drivers that think flappy paddles are manual transmissions

haha same way I feel patinum.
BUT in the manufactures defense, they are just trying to sell cars. I dont know a single person (in person) that knows how to rev match correctly and some of these guys are my friends that have been in the car scene far longer than I have.
My stepfather who would say he is a car enthusiest (since he used to drag race) refuses to know anything about rev matching and also insists that it is impossible to over-rev an engine that has a rev limiter.
I remember watching a video awhile back when manufactures had the very first automobile and how confusing it was drive the damn thing at all--imagine if things were the same. That was about as manual as it gets! I dont even think I would want to put forth the effort to attempt to learn how to drive the thing.

Real enthusiasts use a crash box tranny. Syncros are for poseurs.

If the economy turns around, this car will outsell the 350Z by a good margin.
FYI, well over one million Zs have been sold thus far.

1,000,000
2003-2008 = 6 years.... 166,667 per year.....
I don[t think they sold anything close to that.... i was thinking maybe 30,000 a year....
or are you talking world wide maybe? or are you just talking out your ass?

I welcome the throttle blip downshift technology with open arms.
I wouldn't use it 99% of the time, as I enjoy heal-toeing and rev matching on my own...one of the joys of manual shifting. But for autocrossing, I can guarantee that this would shave half a second off of my laps. My feet are far too large (13) and my inseam far too long (35) to heal-toe efficiently when braking at 10/10ths. My body moves around too much in the seat and I just don't have the foot room. Perhaps in a larger car it would be easier, but it's always been a struggle for me in an S2K.
I don't think it's gimmicky at all...
