Well for one. The 350z's VQ cant do much more than 380-400whp before you have rods going through the block. And in a car that heavy thats just not enough.

Wow all that for $30k? Do we have a curb weight yet? I have never been a Nissan fan but good for them. I am definitely interested to hear more driving impressions from current or former S2000 owners.

Around 3300lb according to couple mags that put the car on the scales.

the rev matching sounds really gay to me--but thats just my opinion.

Either make it manual, automatic, or paddle. Dont make a "manual" more automatic. Pretty lame IMO, other than that the car sounds great.

I don't see your complaining about the synchros that make your transmission easier to shift, your numb electronic power steering, your drive by wire throttle, stability control, or radial tires!
I meant to quote the guy you were quoting because I agree with you. Sorry Chris.

It is still a full manual transmission.

I have driven a GTi with DSG and found it to be wonderful. Considering how much time and effort was spent by Nissan on the rev-matching manual might it have been just as easy to develop a DSG type transmission for the 370? Maybe Nissan was concerned about the added weight of the DSG transmission compared to a conventional manual since shaving pounds was a major concern during the 370's development.
I would assume this system requires little in the way of additional hardware. The computer already controls the engine throttle. The system probably needs only a few sensors if any to guess the intended gear. After that it's all software. Heck, this system might just save a clutch or two or at least add to clutch life as now the only time the clutch will really be dragged is when starting from a stop (which admittedly is a lot of the clutch wear).

I suspect a DSG box would cost a good bit more and of course that hardware you pay for with each car rather than just some R&D costs.

alright cool guy

wait...what does manual mean again? oh yeah... that you have to rev match yourself.

an automatic is just a full manual transmission that shifts automatically...

Manual means you have to shift it yourself - you never have to rev match - you just do it to keep from lurching.

you dont "have" to do anything. You dont "have" to ever use a clutch either. To me it just falls along the lines of shifting yourself--you have to downshift yourself properly too.

I am just saying, in my opinion I would have rather seen paddles than an "assisted" manual transmission. Obviously I do not make up the entire market so this did not happen--just my thoughts.
