Mid Engine, 276hp V6, 3,000lb Aluminum Sports car, at $80,000 sounds like something Honda made almost 20 years ago.

Back in August I made a trip down to Laguna Seca and the Lotus Rep was there prepping it for the Pebble Beach Concours the next week. At the time this was the only Evora in North America. The interior was alright, a bit spartan and the backseat pretty much non-existent but it looks pretty good in person. I almost walked right by it thinking it was a Tesla.

The Evora competes with the 911, not Cayman S. Sure, all 3 of them have similar performances, but Evora and 911 are in the same class.

The Exige is the one that competes with the CS.

Maybe in terms of price they are close but I don't think Exige buyer is looking for a street car like the Cayman S. The Exige is much more track focused and I can't imagine too many people use them as daily drivers.

The 911 and Evora are in the same price range, but on paper Cayman S and Evora are pretty close in straight line performance. Of course Lotus is known for their handling more than POWAAA.

CAR mag did latest issue does their Car of The Year article. They said the Cayman S weighs the same and has 40 more HP yet they picked the Evora as the winner for COTY.

Btw, I agree with previous poster - NO EFFEN WAY I am paying $80k for a stock Camry motor with ECU reflash and YES I consider myself a car guy.

In 1991 there was no real competition for the NSX. Today Lotus has to deal with the Boxster S and Cayman S.

For those of you knocking the camry engine, would you rather lotus make their own engine from scratch that will pretty much do the same task only less reliable (there's no way they can bench test their engines to the degree toyota does for their mass produced bread and butter cars) and a lot more expensive? I mean if the car already costs that much using a camry engine, how much more do you think they'll charge if they created their own powerplant?

I saw the evora in person... one of the few instances where I think it looks better in the pics.

I have no problems with Lotus sourcing a motor, but 276hp in a 3,000lb car doesn't seem competitive at $80,000.
